Our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department treats the whole person, not just your symptoms.

Our physicians, who are called physiatrists, are experts on how your nerves, muscles and bones work. Because they take your whole body into account, they can pinpoint the source of an ailment and then develop an integrated treatment plan to reduce your pain and increase your mobility or function.

We treat people of all ages and treat a wide range of problems, from chronically sore shoulders and lower backs to serious brain injuries or spinal cord injuries. We also work with people with disabling conditions such as stroke, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and chronic pain.

Our goal is to restore your ability to participate in life by using exercise and conditioning to help you compensate for an injury or disease. We focus on the biomechanical causes of pain instead of just medicating your pain. We work to improve your quality of life through non-surgical treatment options including exercise, adaptive equipment, medicines and manual therapies.

Our rehabilitation doctors lead a team of healthcare professionals that can include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists and social workers.

Your treatment plan is tailored to you. We take a comprehensive approach, addressing not just your medical needs but also your social, emotional and vocational needs.
