Congestive Heart Failure with Anemia
Have you been told you have congestive heart failure with anemia? You may qualify for this study:
Red Heart Failure Study: Principal Investigator: Nizar Saleh, MD
This study is examining the benefits of increasing the hemoglobin count in patients with congestive heart failure and anemia. The drug, Darbepoetin alfa, is currently FDA-approved for the treatment of anemia in patients with renal failure and patients undergoing chemotherapy with anemia. Congestive heart failure would be a new indication for this drug. Patients are initially screened for a low hemoglobin and if they qualify, go on to echo evaluation, iron deficiency studies and bi-monthly visits for injections.
