Caring Ways Cancer Resource Center

A diagnosis of cancer turns a patient's world upside down. They need to make a lot of decisions quickly, and want all the information they can find. Caring Ways Cancer Resource Center is a one-stop information center where our patients can find accurate and up-to-date materials on everything they need to know about cancer and related issues.

It's our hope that this resource center will be a safety net for our patients and their loved ones. It's open to community members as well. The center, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., is located next to the main registration desk and patient waiting area in SMDC Medical Center's Duluth Clinic First Street Building, 420 E. First St.. Cancer support specialist on staff

Caring Ways Cancer Resource Center has a full-time cancer support specialist who can help patients locate the information they need, and can also tell them about other resources available throughout the SMDC medical campus and in the community.

Patient/Family Library

Our library offers books, brochures, cancer-related magazines, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs that can be checked out. These resources can help you learn about cancer and its medical treatments. Other resources explore the emotional and spiritual healing aspects of cancer. A variety of free brochures, booklets and phamphlets are also available for you to take with you.

Oncology Interactive

The center also has an interactive software program called Oncology Interactive. This easy-to-use, interactive guide has in-depth information about all types of cancer and covers everything from diagnosis and treatment options to supportive care information.
