The Pediatric Unit of St. Mary's Children's Hospital features cheerful rooms with space for entire families, including built-in beds for parents staying overnight, in-room video games, and a children’s playroom.

Our team works to involve children and families in every aspect of decisionmaking. That includes certified Child Life Specialists who counsel young patients and their siblings, helping them adjust to the hospital experience
Specialist support for true depth of care
St. Mary's Children's Hospital has two Pediatric Hospitalists who work in the Pediatric Unit and whose only focus is to take care of kids in the hospital. We also have certified Child Life Specialists who can talk to kids at just their level. It's specialized care of this sort that can make all the difference in caring for kids. Pre-surgical visits
Surgery can be a daunting experience at any age. For kids especially, it's important to calm their fears and answer their questions. Parents and children can arrange to tour the unit and talk with our pediatric staff prior to surgery by calling 218-786-4680.
Sedation services
Through careful monitoring of medications, our Pediatric Intensivists are able to increase the comfort level of children who are anxious about undergoing medical procedures.
