Safety Measures
Your safety is extremely important to us. Generally speaking, catheter-based interventional procedures are safer and less traumatic to you as a patient than surgical approaches.
In addition, we follow strict procedures to ensure your safety during visits to our Cardiac Cath Lab. We check (and double-check) your identification and chart to make sure you receive the right procedures and appropriate medications. Nurses are present to administer sedation and any rhythm-stabilizing drugs you might need during your time in our care. Every room is equipped with a defibrillator and full supply of cardiac meds.
The Cardiac Cath Lab is a sterilized environment. Hats, gowns, and gloves are worn during procedures to prevent contamination. We also are very cautious about exposure to radiation. Monitoring, shielding, and protocols are used to prevent you and the Cardiac Cath Lab professionals from excessive X-ray exposure during fluoroscopy (imaging).
