Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
The Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at St. Mary’s Medical Center provides specialized nursing services for critically ill cardiac patients who have suffered a heart attack, are experiencing severe chest pain, or who require heightened care and monitoring after an interventional procedure.
The CICU can be a stressful place when you or someone you love is a patient. We work very hard to make your visit comfortable and reassuring by providing expert care and demonstrating genuine concern.
- Our experienced CICU nurses are Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified and undergo extensive orientation specific to this unit. They also are part of a hospital-wide Rapid Response Team that assists patients in danger of cardiac arrest. MORE
- Patients in CICU are continually monitored, both in their rooms and at the nurses’ station. Respiratory therapy, intravenous drips, and medications are administered as needed. MORE
- A multidisciplinary care team works with CICU patients and families, making sure you are connected to the resources you need — here at the hospital and when you go home. MORE
We treat a lot of very ill patients and still maintain excellent outcomes. That's why hospitals and physicians from around the region send their critically ill cardiac patients to the CICU at St. Mary’s Medical Center. They know and respect our quality of care.
