Post Coronary Care Unit

Well-trained, caring professionals who want the best for you — that is what you’ll find in the Post Coronary Care Unit (PCCU) at St. Mary’s Medical Center. We provide intermediate nursing care for cardiac patients who need to be closely watched and monitored, but are not critical enough to require intensive care.

You might come to this unit if you are experiencing chest pain, recovering from a mild heart attack, suffering from congestive heart failure or rhythm disturbances, or need to adjust your heart medications in a safe, controlled environment.

  • Our experienced nursing staff is Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified and well trained to respond in emergent situations. Continuing education keeps us up to date on the latest cardiac medications and treatments. MORE
  • Telemetry monitoring is one of our specialties. Portable transmitting devices allow us to measure and record your heart rhythms without confining you to a hospital bed or even a particular unit. Telemetry patients throughout the hospital transmit data to our high tech monitoring room for review and analysis. MORE
  • All of our patients are fully assessed at least three times per day. A multidisciplinary team makes rounds each morning to assess and discuss each patient’s condition, care plan, and potential needs as you transition from the hospital to home. MORE

In addition to 33 medical cardiac beds, we have five Chest Pain Unit beds where you can stay while experts determine if your pain is heart-related.
